Can I hammer my lawn mower blade flat if it is only very slightly bent?

Can I hammer my lawn mower blade flat if it is only very slightly bent? My mower has metal deck/skirting so it can't come through the metal bit if it comes loose(to my knowledge). I think if I give it about 5 hits with a hammer I could fix it. Do I still have to buy a new one???
Will it start with a bent blade?

buy a new one ,a warped blade won’t turn true it will wear out the crank bushing.

Regardless of what you do, be sure you take the spark plug wire off the spark plug before you do anything. You don’t want the mower starting while you are working on the blade.

If you’re really low on cash, and don’t care much about the mower anyway, then hammer away. It won’t hurt to try it, but if it vibrates more than it did before, it’s probably too far gone.

Otherwise, just spend the ten bucks on a new one. An off-balance blade will wear out the bearings in your mower quickly.

I used to mow a ‘lawn’ with a lot of rocks. I hammered my blade flat many times–no problem. A lot of vibration would indicate that it is not flat so hammer it again.
I also sharpened the blade with a rough file and had no problems.
