No, because the crankcase has to be level for the engine to oil itself properly. Also, the oil will quickly find it's way into the cylinder past the valve guides.

You may be able to turn the carburetor so it is level, if it isn't mounted on top of the gas tank.

If you stand the engines with the cylinder head pointing up, you might get away with it. There's only one way to find out. Try it.

No-the oil needs to stay at the bottom of the motor.

If it is a four stroke motor, then you cannot.

If it is a two stroke it doesn't matter as long as you reorient the carburetor.

the only lawn mower engines you can use are 2 stroke engines, you need a carb adaptor to put it back to level

that kind of depends. on a traditional horizontal mount, you would not have any luck. but if you were abler to locate a gas powered edger, that might work, although you would not have much power.

Try and find a couple of horizontal shaft engines.
Simply laying a typical vertical shaft lawn mower on its side for a short time and the engine hydolocks with oil in the combustion chamber on top of the piston.

no a 4 stroke lawn mower moter cannot be laid on its side because the crankcase is full of oil. If you lay it over it cannot pump oil. On the outher hand if you use a 2 stroke motor, such as out of a lawnboy it can be laid however you like because the crancase is dry. oil is mixed with gas.
