Does anybody ever replace the muffler on their gas lawnmower?

Do people not notice when their lawnmower has become obnoxiously loud after it has been used a few years? Or is it that people don't know a muffler can be easily replaced on the little engine for ? Or is noise pollution the in- thing these days?
