does the landlord have to supply a lawn mower for yard maintenance in a apartment complex?
me and my sister are renting 1 of 3 units in a house complex, and we signes a lease saying we would do yard work and mowing the lawn but htey knew we did not have a lawn mower or any other tools. is it the landlords responsability to supply a lawn mower because it is a apartment?

No, it is not the landlord’s responsibility. That would be like saying that because you are responsible for vacuuming your own carpet, but don’t own a vacuum cleaner, that the landlord should provide that for you. You are responsible for maintaining your rental space (including the purchase, rental, or borrowing of neccessary equipment or hiring a service) unless otherwise noted in the lease.
Nope. If it says in the lease you are responsible then you are stuck doing it. I would suggest hiring someone to.. Which is not expensive & splitting the cost with your neighbors .. or see if they have a mower to use…
NO,IF IT DOESNT SAY IT IN THE LEASE THAN THE TENANT HAS TO GET HIS LAZY BUT OUT THERE AND CUT HIS OWN GRASS.
If you have a triplex, it is not an apartment. If you rlease says you do the yard work and mow the lawn, then you have to provide that yourself. You signed the lease and agreed to do that.
Normally, with an apartment (not a duplex or triplex), the owner must cut the grass as apartment may be upstairs, etc. However, with a duplex or triplex, it is on the ground and you have outside access and you have a definite portion of yard that is yours. Your landlord was smart and put it in the lease so it could not be disputed later – you are responsible for mowing it and taking care of the yard. Had the landlord not put it in the lease, it might have to go to court to determine whose responsibility it is. And it could be his if it was not stated. However, it is and clearly it appears. So you cut the grass and you provide all the tools. Landlord does not have to provide it if you are responsible for cutting, unless the landlord told you or included it in lease that he would provide those things.
Sounds like you and your sister may actually need an apartment rather than a triplex, someplace where you are upstairs and have no lawn of your own. Common areas are usually the landlord’s to maintain. It sounds as though you don’t have common area unless it is the parking area. If you have separate parking areas, it is even more clear that it is a triplex and not an apartment.
