I have a Craftsman 917.256501. I put the lever up to engage the blades and nothing happens. Help? My manual is no help.

Both are on the same FWD TORO self propelled mower body (model:20371 vs. 20331). I read the 190 has 6.75 hp and the 149cc has 4.2, but both claim 6.75 gross torque. Which is the better engine to go with? thanks much
p.s. I also was told both these engines were made in China .....

The right front wheel on my Craftsman riding lawn mower keeps coming off. I think it is because the wheel clip (may be called E clip) comes off, which lets the washers and the wheel come off. I replaced the clip. I haven't tried it out. Is there another step I should take or anything?

Toro super recycler lawn mower question?

Hi I have a brand new Toro Super recycler lawn mower (I love it, Totally worth the money compared to my old honda which cost about the same). I just wanted to know if its okay to use the mower to suck up leaves when the fall season comes. I have the bag for it so it should just chop up the leaves and bag them right? I don't want to use my little leaf blower/vac. It took me about 4 hours to suck up all the leaves in my yard and two days later it was like I never did anything. So this year I'm thinking that I could use my lawn mower to suck up all the leaves. Is it okay? Whats wrong with my self propelled lawn mower?

i have a john deer 6.75 hp Briggs and stratton rear wheel self propelled mower. I've had it for about 3 years i bought it brand new from lowes it has two options of running it with the mulching bag in the rear or it can throw the grass through the side. i always use it and change the spark plugs regularly and the oil and filters but for the first yr it worked perfect but after and now it takes forever to turn on i have to pull really hard and quick for about 20 minutes until it turns on it always has gas and oil and i've also cleaned the carburetor about three times and still it doesn't want to turn on quick. after i turn it on i can turn it off and it will turn on, on the first pull but getting it started takes forever. it has this liquid that says for fresh start that you must buy the little cups every time if runs out and i always replace it but it still takes like 20 mins to start please help.

I have a Murray Riding Mower and it starts and runs good on slow speed, but when you put the speed level higher, it starts to backfire and there's also black smoke. What is the cause and what can we fix?
The spark plug was changed and I don't think it's a problem with the gas. So it has to do with the Carburator?

How do you make the drive belt tighter on a John Deere mower?

I have an L111 John Deere mower 42" I have a new belt on the drive , but when I pull my deck up all the way something rubs when I am moving but if I let the deck down a little it stops! I know the drive belt needs to be a little tighter but how in the world do I do it ? I have looked and looked but I don't see how to do it HELP! And it is the Drive belt not the deck belt.
My manuals does not show how to do this at all!
