Honda mower question about self-propelled system?

I have a honda mower and whenever I push the lever to engage the transmission its fine, but when I let go to stop it keeps going then stops. It's a relatively new mower, only a few years old.

When you remove the bag and hold the door open there is a panel on the left side of the opening that contains the linkage for the transmission. It can get plugged with grass and junk. Clean it out and lube the linkage. Make sure that the springs are attached properly. It could also be a kink in the control cable. Check that too while you have it opened up.

the spring release might not be loose enuff, and or installed wrong.. should have some relase tension

Would say you have some linkage problems. Would lubricate all pivot points on the engagement system with white lithium grease. Make sure the engagement button on the gearbox is clean and has free movement. You may have to use a fine sandpaper on it.
