You mean a rotary mower, right? Not the reel type (which is rare with an engine)?

Assuming that’s the case, a push mower engine has a vertical crankshaft, you need an engine that has a horizontal crankshaft like from a leaf blower or something like that.

    Sorry!

you will have to find a riding mower with a wheel that has a rubber edge on it, this will turn the wheel on the axle , and will not need a socket, otherwise you will have to use a horizontal crank engine, it would be much easier that way anyways, as most of the engines with the rubber edge pulley are long gone

You can’t use a push lawn mower for a go kart engine. What the motor of the lawn moyer turns is the blade, which means the motor is way too weak to push something that big.

if ti dont have a shaft on the sid eof the motor you cant….. you need a tiller motor…. or a 5 hp briggs is what most had easy to work on easy to find parts… only a few moving parts…. easy to soup up cheap… .. sorry but you dont have the right motor

That motor has a vertical shaft so it can’t be used because it is pointing down when mounted. You need a horizontal shaft engine like on a tiller or an edger. What I would try to do is find one is the same horse power and brand as yours so you will have extra parts. If you find an engine, you will also need to buy a clutch that fits your drive shaft. You can get these with either a chain drive or a belt drive at your hardware store for about 35 dollars. Good luck…

Google search "go cart" or "go kart" ….there is alot of information out there.
