how do i change the tire on a craftsman riding lawn mower?

I have a fairly old craftsman riding lawnmower. Model number 917.270750. I have removed a rubber covering on the bolt of the tire but there is a bolt i have never seen. Do i need a specific tool to remove the tire?

From the online manual at http://www.hammerwall.com:

    From the online manual:

    TO REMOVE WHEEL FOR REPAIRS
    • Block Up axle securely.
    • Remove axle cover, retaining ring and
washers to a_ow wheel remova_ (rear
wheel contains a square key – Do not
    lose).
    • Repair tire and reassemble.
    • On rear wheels only; align grooves in
rear wheel hub and axle. Insert square
    key.
    • Replace washers and snap retaining
    ring securely in axle groove.
    • Replace axle cover.

There is an E clip and a large washer. The e clip can be removed with a screwdriver, just carefully pry it out of it’s slot on the axle. If it is a rear tire, when you slide the wheel off the axle there is a square Key that fits between the wheel and axle. Don’t lose it and make sure that it is put back when reinstalling the wheel.

To remove the tire itself, you need to have a three good tire bars and a bar to hold the centre down while you remove the tire with the tire bars. Brake the tire seal seat and insert the two bars and push down on both bars. Use a third bar to get the tire removed and work your way round.
Or did you just want t remove the wheel? Then follow what rempen has said.
