a replacement rope? like just a piece of rope? in that case you would remove the starter mechanism (cover over the motor) since i am guessing you have a vertical crank motor, You should be able to see how the rope whines into the starting mechanism. then all you have to do is unwind it by hand (as if you are pulling the starter cable) and put the piece of rope through and let it wind itself back up. i hope you are able to understand this. and i have worked on so many variations of push mower starters that i cant tell you exactly what yours will look like once it is removed. its probably a pretty easy do it yourself job and i am sure you can figure it out with a little common sense. but if you are still struggling and you have it apart. just bring the cover over to your local small engine repair shop and they should be able to help!
