How do you change a sprinkler head in the yard? I need step by step guidance on doing this repair.?

The sprinkler head keep getting busted by the lawn mower. Also the sprinkler in the center of my yard has a wide round base which pops up. That broken and needs replace.What are the best sprinkler heads to get?

dig around the old sprinkler, enough to be able to unscrew it.. take it to a hardware store and buy a new one.. making sure its the same size and same spray radius. go home and screw it back on, making sure that the water is spraying where you want it.. its really that easy!!! if the new sprinkler is not spraying as far, or too far, there is a very small screw on top of the sprinkler.. this is what adjusts to distance the water is sprayed..
