How much to rebuild a 12.5 hp briggs lawnmower engine of a craftsman mower, or better to buy a new one???

    If the engine itself isn’t worn out, just the bore and piston rings are… could go up around $250-300 to have it bored, new piston and rings installed by a engine mech…
    Yourself? just the cost of the parts and a manual.
    New cheapo riding mower.. around $999 bucks… give or take.. (stay away from mtd)

    New engine $400 up.
