Key starts are good, but there are some concerns too. Over a few years of use the battery will need replaced. It is also something else to go wrong. We have had a rash of flywheel gears go bad this year.

Overall I personally don't use a key start, but it would be nice.

Yes, They work just as well as the gas powered ones and they are vaery reliable. Although i have not owned a mower like this, one of my relatives did and they think it works very good. It makes it a lot easier. And it still works to this day.

My neighbor has one and it seems to work well for him. I have never had a lawnmower with the electric start, I have had other things like a snow blower and a weed eater.
The blowers key start no longer works but it does have a rope backup start, and the weedeater's batteries are bad and I went out and bought a regular pull start one.
As long as the batteries are fine, then it works good, but if you don't use them often, the batteries wear down and go bad. Personally, I prefer the old pull start, the reliability of it starting is a lot greater.

The key start sounds like a good idea to me, saves a lot of pain in the arm trying to start a mower lol.
