Should the blades on a murry riding lawn mower overlap?

    one should be in front of the other so they can overlap without hitting each other – thus not leaving a strip of uncut grass down the middle.

    NO, if they had to overlap they would be cutting unevenly because one would be higher and one lower, or they’d be smashing into one another.
    They do however spin extremely close to each other. The trick to not getting the little strip down the center while mowing is to keep your blades sharp. Especially the the outer most part.
