Lawn mower is smoking up?

When I fire up my mower, (hondo quadra or something like that) It runs for about a minute and then smoke starts pouring out of the muffler and the machine cuts off.

anybody have any tips what I can do to try to fix it (without bringing it into a repair shop)?

    travs correct. #1 oil is overfilled or #2 ran low on oil and fried the rings.third posibility, it got filled up with 2 cycle weed eater gas.

    i can only think of 2 reasons…1) u put too much oil in it…and 2) u dont put any oil it it…try both and see how that works…
