Lawn Mower Self-Propel Problems?

My lawn mower isn't propelling when I pull the level that is supposed to make it move. I looked at it and found the wire attached to the level isn't pulling hard enough. I know this because I pulled the lever, then pulled the wire down some more and it jumped foreword. Does anyone know how to fix this? Should I just tighten the wire?

Take the slack out of the cable.

Depends on what machine you have, but yes there is a small amount of adjustment on the pull cable. Could also be that your drive belt is stretched and needs replacement

Look at where the wire connects to the handle and see if there isn’t a bolt or nut to tighten onto the wire. Pull the slack out of the wire and tighten the bolt.
