Sure you want to do this? If the mower doesn’t work you have an excuse for not mowing the lawn every week.

Changing the oil is the one single item that prolongs the health of your mower more than all other things combined.
After changing the oil, clean all of last years dead grass off of it. Particularly the grass that soaked up the oil spillage.

Unplug the spark plug wire, If the spark plug wire is still attached to the spark plug, turning the blade can start the mower engine.

Then Check the blade, if it has nicks, file them out. Be sure to balance the blade by finding the mid way point and balancing it on an object. If one end drops, file more off of it until the blade remains level.

The blade not only cuts grass, it acts the same as the fly wheel on your auto. If it is out of balance it will cause excessive wear on the engine as well as vibrations.

When done, be sure to reattach the spark plug wire.

Next fill with fresh gas strained through a coffee filter or paper towel. Gas from the service station has small impurities in it that will plug the tiny passages in the carburetor. Strain all of the gas you put in it.

If it doesn’t start in 3 pulls, replace the spark plug and clean the air filter. Have a good summer.

Change the oil, sharpen the blade, clean the spark plug, and put in fresh gas. That ought to do it.

What is a Lawn Boy? I assume it’s a brand of Petrol Lawn mower. So give it a good clean, sharpen the blade if you have a stone or friend who knows how otherwise, Very little unless you are prepared to roll your sleeves up and use a sharp pair of scissors to cut the lawn, trusting you have a pair.

Id start with cleaning it up..underneath and on top and then change the oil…be good to your mower it serves you well. Maybe squirt a lil oil on the blades too.
