Lawnmower wont start and is spitting out gas?

Well, my mom wanted me to cut the grass and I went out to cut it. I refilled on gas before mowing and tried starting it. I spilled some gas, and now when I start it the lawnmower will shoot out gas and sound very weird while running. I turned it off before trying to mow obviously. What should I do?
