My lawn mower suddenly stopped working?

I accidentally pushed my lawn mower up against a shrub branch that was sticking straight out -- it shut down like I turned it off. It has a brand new spark plug, and plenty of gas and oil. I've inspected the front of the machine and see nothing amiss. It's been running perfectly until this happened. Any ideas?

    Check the idle lever on the side of the lawn mower. It is possible that the cable attached to it was wrenched off by the branch. otherwise I have no idea.

    Check to see if you have a gas shut off lever which may have been moved to the off postion when you hit the shrub. Check throttle and choke cables also.
