push mower?

During the summer I'm looking for alternatives to my gas mower. How much are push mowers and are they really that much difficult to use. With a gas mower it takes me about an hour to mow my lawn any ideas how long it would take with a gas mower?
A push mower as in the ones that use elbow grease and no gas

A good one is about $150 – $175 where I am. Could be cheaper or more expensive depending on where you live. If you cut frequently it shouldn’t take you much longer to mow than with a power mower.

Do you mean a real mower? They are about $125. Or, do you mean a gas push mower? Lots of pricing there. A real mower would probably be a bit harder to push, but they have nice ones out there. A gas mower might or might not be self-propelled.

Well, I am kind of thinking the same thing. I currently have a self propelled mower and do not like it. I think the push manual mower is a great green choice. I saw one in Walmart (Canada) for 99dollars, and comes with a bag. I am going to give it a try. No Gas and environment friendly, quiet and low maintenance.
    It’s worth a shot.

Mow once per week so the grass will not get too tall. Tall grass can cause a problem.

i have a very old reel mower. it works well in the grass. if you have trees that lose a lot of twigs/branches or nuts, you could have problems. I couldn’t use the mower at the last house because of this. I’m going to give it another try this summer though.

yes they are alot easier then gas mowers the only problem is if you have grass about 50 cm long it will take a long time i have chenged to a push mower and my yard is nearly a hecter which is big and i dont have any muscles lol but after about a day of getting used to the mower the next day was a sinch but if you have a 10 by 10 meter house it should be easy i can do a 5 by 5 meter lawn in about 5 mins but if it is long it would have taken about an hour and when you use it do not go to fast you will get puffed out and also if you have thick very thick grass it would be hard so you would have to wait for that to get abit longer but it is good for the enviroment and saves money i got mine for 30 dollars from the garden store and i havent yet to regret

Depending on your grass it can be just as easy, or easier to use a manual push reel mower.

Cut in strips half the width of the blades. Be sure not to let the grass get to tall. You can just cut thinner stripes if it does.

Be sure to keep the blades sharp. They make sharpeners that slide along the blades. And be careful doing it.
