it could be you have a bad gasket behind air filter box.the easiest thing to do would be taking off air filter box and looking for gasket.or it could be leaking around primer bulb.also it could be bad gasket in carb.try getting model number off motor and going to repair shop they will tell you what to do.

Whoa…. If you have gas leaking from your air filter, well you have bigger problems han I can help you with………

I think you have a fuel leak from your carberator located just below the air filter. Am I on the right track here? Assuming that I am, I am guessing this is a briggs and stratton engine?? If the leak is actually coming from your carbeurator you may be able tojust get away with tightening the screws that hold the face plate on. What year is this mower? Definitely don't want to be operating it wth the fuel leaking, as it will eventually reach the fire wall / exhaust and catch fire if the engine is hot enough. Avoid doing this. Please give a few more specifics about your mower, and we should be able to walk you through this.

Most carburator have a float valve on the carburator, this may be the problem. they are usually a round can looking affair and are held on by a screw in the center, it is is on the bottom. If this sticks from time to time, gas will flow out and flood the motor among other things, Good luck.
