What can I do to make my push mower work?

Its been sitting in the garage all winter. I put gas in it and about pulled my arm off trying to get it to start, but its not happening. Is there a filter somewhere I could change? How about a spark plug. How do I know what size to buy?
Could you give me some hints on how to make my 1 yr old lawn mower come to life before I have to mow in about a week?

The fuel could be old. (yes it happens). Drain the tank. If you can get some carb cleaner and spray the carb (inside and out). Take the spark plug with you to get a new one. If this is a bit much for you then ask a neighbor to help ya.

If you do not want to drain the gas, use a fuel conditioner. Make sure that you do not flood the engine. If you do just let it set until the fuel evaporates, then try to start it. Changing spark plug would be good, take it out and take it with you to autopro or autozone somewhere and they can match it for you. Put it back in, clean the air filter clean all cables on the engine and that should get you back in working order.

It is always best to take the spark plug with you when you go to the store. Do not worry about the filter.Your mower is only a year old.Don't forget to check your oil level.Good luck

Ah … here's an idea: sounds like you don't know how to fix things, so try taking the mower to a lawn mower repair shop.

leave in sun for a while, see if spark plug is connected, drain motor oil and replenish, put in fresh gasoline. At your lawn store let them know make of your mower, for your spark plug. Keep praying while you pull to start.
