What causes the engine of my riding mower to stop when the blades are lowered to cut?

The mower is a Workhorse by Wheelhorse.

    Clean the underside of the mower deck and make sure the pulleys are free of debris. There could be grease fittings under there too so lube them up.

    Make sure your air cleaner is clean, After warmed up good and choke is all the way open it should be OK. If all is well to this point then you may need to adjust carburetor.

    i have 30+ years experience by my side as a mechanic and we think it is a safety switch, possibly not sitting in seat or check and make sure mower is not in reverse or least likely the belt or spindle is locking up…I work for small engine repair in colorado and have asked several mechanics this same question but they say it is hard to tell could be three things…hope this helps
