By doing so, the magnet imbedded into the fly-wheel passes by the iron -core of the ignition coil, the magnetic field of the permanent magnet induces an (electro motive force)(emf) in the coil, which quickly collapses creating a high voltage, low current to the spark plug. The charge jumps across the spark plug gap, so that is goes to 'ground' and is finished. The spark across the 'gap' is what ignites the gasoline/air mixture which is under compression(power strohe) of the engine. Once the engine starts, the process keeps on going , until you stall the engine, or cut off the ignition(dropping the handle part, turn a swith on which grounds the charge)stopping the engine.....
