Snapper mowers are the best – they have an incredible reputation in the business & guarantees. Read The Man Who Said No To Walmart & see what that's all about – Snapper refused to compromise the integrity of their products to meet Walmarts demands for faster, cheaper.
what I would do is look around at what they are using in your area..and when you see what the pros are using and then see what one you see more of..then that I would say would be the best one to buy in your area.
I purchased my riding mower at the Tractor Supply Store I have had it for 3 years and no problems. My previous one lasted 13 years. I think it has more to do with how well you maintain it then the type that you get. But if ihad unlimited funds I would purchase a Kabota. It is quiet easy to maneuver and it cuts very close to trees and shrubs so very little trimming needs to be done.
Most of the big names are pretty comparable at this point. Especially if you live in a rural area, one of your biggest concerns should be where you can get it serviced. I'd pay a little extra for a machine from the dealer in my town, rather than have to haul a dead machine to the next county if anything happened.
That said, I'll never buy another Ransomes/Ryan mower. Utter crap. I loved my Scag Z-turn and my Ex-mark walk-behind.
If your just mowing, I would look at a zero radius turning mower. If your wanting to collect your grass, I would look hard at the Walker. I owned four in a Landscaping/mowing operation (sold operation 5 years ago) and still own one I use for my own lawn.
In the six years I ran the mowers commercially, the worst that ever happened was batteries and damage to the mower decks do to the operator error.
