What will happen if you leave a lawnmower (w/gas in it) inside your house?

We are going out of town, and my husband wants to do this so the lawnmower doesn't get stolen out of the garage.

I dont' have a good feeling about this. Just need some feedback.
Will our house explode?
I'm just worried that the gas fumes, after being in the house, could cause and explosion if there was a spark when the air conditioner turned on, etc.
