Why are John Deere lawn mower tractors the best?

John Deere tractors are considerably more expensive than the other brands even though their hp or whatever might be lower. What makes them so expensive?

It is mostly there image. They have a reputation across the country of being "the tractor" to buy. Because of that the majority of people feel like they are indeed the best lawn tractor to buy. Basically the same reason people like Harley Davidson’s. John Deere mowers are built well but there are much better mowers out there depending on what you need it for. If it is strictly for mowing grass try a mower such as a Toro, Bobcat, Scagg, or other popular brands. If you are using it for a multi-purpose garden tractor try a White, Simplicity, Toro, or if you have the money a John Deer. I have about 3/4 of an acre and I use a 48" Bobcat walk behind zero turn commercial mower. It was only about 3500 dollars new and has lasted 13 years with some commercial use. It is good exercise if you like or you can ride behind it using a single or double wheel velke. Garden tractors will not mow grass near as well as a good built mower such as a ZTR or similar mower because they have deeper taller decks and more blade speed that helps cut heavy grass. Good luck

Not all JDs are created equal. Those sold at Lowe’s are no better than the other MTD products.

Because nothing runs like a "Deere" Quality workmanship, quality product. Durability. And made in the US of A, baby.

They aren’t the best – I prefer Cub Cadet – Advertising costs are recuperated by higher selling price.
